A Note on the Presentation
India is perhaps the only country in the world with such a wide variety and disparity in its school system. This is evident in the nomenclature we give schools – our cities boast of international schools, alternative schools, ‘new age’ schools, public schools, convent schools, central schools (Kendriya Vidyalayas), minority schools, municipal schools and of course the government schools run by each state of the Indian Union.
In this hierarchy it would seem that the international schools are the front runners with the best facilities, the others following behind at varying distances, with government schools inevitably at the tail end. Admittedly this is a very simplistic and superficial way of measuring the quality or excellence of schools because it ignores the innovations that do get introduced in schools across the spectrum. Therefore the question needs to be posed – and answered: What makes a school successful in today's world? What are the characteristics of an excellent school? This 2 hour presentation will discuss the key factors that can swing a school from good to great !
